Diet and Nutrition

I need to lose weight and eat more healthy. It is so easy to eat too many calories and too much junk without writing it down.Alicia

Bobette’s response. I know that feeling, Alicia! When I both keep a food journal and track the good things I eat and drink, I can lose weight. When my attention wanders and I quit journaling, the hands and mouth take over. It is amazing how much bad stuff I eat when I’m not paying attention!

Using My Life Matters for Diet and Nutrition Planning

My Life Matters TM has a My Health and Well-Being section each day. You can use the daily space at the bottom as a food journal, as a menu plan, or short grocery list. In the example, I use it as a food journal, with Weight Watchers points notations beside each food. You could do the exact same thing, except track calories instead of points.

The “morning, afternoon, and evening” section each day is designed to be flexible (In the picture at left, it’s the blank space with the “WomansPlanner.com” watermark across it). So, if you need more room for meal planning or tracking, this area can be used to help us lose weight as well.

Losing weight and becoming healthier involves more than cutting calories or counting points. Getting the right nutrients (and taking vitamins if needed), and exercising are important, too. The My Health and Well Being area has a place to mark off your daily workout as well as a place to track when you have taken your vitamins / supplements / medications during the day. You can also–as I did in the example–write in how much your slept each night.

You are not limited, however, to tracking food, workouts, and pills. You may want to write in your weight, tally liquids you drink, or even record blood pressure or blood sugar readings. Anything you want to focus on, on a daily basis, can be written in here.

The choice is yours because your life matters.
